John M. Scheppach is a shareholder and founding member of Scheppach Law, Inc. John’s focus is on representing clients in all types of employment law matters.
- John has extensive experience representing clients in single and multi-plaintiff employment litigation, wage-and-hour class actions, representative actions, and administrative matters before the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, and the California Labor Commissioner. In addition, throughout the years, John has regularly provided day-to-day employment law counseling and advice to employers, as well as drafted numerous employee handbooks, workplace policies, all types of employment agreements, severance packages, and arbitration agreements.
John originally started his legal career at the law firm of Allen Matkins in 2005 and worked as an employment attorney until 2007. Thereafter, John served as a judicial law clerk for several different judges.
In 2008, John clerked for the Honorable Frederick Kapala, a federal district judge in the Northern District of Illinois. From 2008 to 2010, John clerked for the Honorable Oliver Wanger, a federal district judge in the Eastern District of California. From 2010 to 2011, John clerked at the California Court of Appeal, Third Appellate District, working first as an appellate attorney who served the court at large and then as a chambers attorney for Justice William Murray.
During his judicial clerkships, John worked on a wide array of litigation matters covering numerous areas of law, including state and federal employment law (e.g., the California Fair Employment and Housing Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Title VII, and the Family and Medical Leave Act), federal lending-related law, civil rights law, education law, and beyond. After his judicial clerkships, John returned to Allen Matkins in November 2011, resuming his private practice in employment law.
In March 2016, John started his own law firm (Scheppach Law, Inc.) with his wife, Julia.

John earned his B.A. in Communication Studies from the University of San Diego in 2002, graduating magna cum laude with an honors diploma. He earned his J.D. from UCLA School of Law in 2005, where he was honored with Order of the Coif.
